Passenger ferries leave twice a day to Smith Island from Crisfield, MD. The ride takes about 45 minutes. The Captain Jason II runs to both Tylerton and Ewell. and the Captain Jason and the Island Belle provide service to Ewell. All ferries leave at 12:30 PM and 5:00 PM from the city dock, where MD 413 dead-ends at the water. Return trips from the island are at 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM, from Tylerton and 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM from Ewell.
The ferries transport everything to the island, and they will carry kayaks for a small fee.
During the winter and early spring months, check with the ferry captains to make sure they will be running.
Parking is available in Crisfield either at the municipal lot on MD413 close to the ferries or at the Tawes Bros. lot (directly behind the municipal lot). There is a $3 charge for overnight parking in either location. Parking vouchers can be obtained from Captain Larry Laird on the Captain Jason II for the municipal lot. An individual is generally stationed at the Tawes lot, or ask for directions to the office across 413.

Cruise boats leave from Somers Cove Marina in Crisfield, MD to Ewell on Smith Island. Enjoy a 40 minute cruise onboard the Twister or the Chelsea Lane Tyler. These operate daily from Memorial Day week-end through October 15th from Somers Cove Marina. Reservations required. Stop at the Paddlewheel Motel in Crisfield to purchase your ticket.
