A Faith-Based Community

Places of Worship on Smith Island

Faith and fellowship continue to play a significant role in island life today. The earliest inhabitants of Smith Island date back to the early 1600's. A number of families now living on the Island can be traced back to the first permanent settlers.

Smith Island has a long history as a faith-based community with a church in each village. Once Methodist, now non-denominational. Join us each Sunday and during the summer for Camp, which started over 135 years ago. Visitors are always welcome!
