Check out the tide conditions.  Additional resources: Fish & Hunt Maryland.

4 / A Paddler's Destination

With well marked trails, more than 8,000 acres of meandering creeks or "guts", and beautiful nature, the Smith Island archipelago has rapidly become a kayak destination. The Smith Island Water Trails Paddling Guide provides paddling tips and trail information for your enjoyment.

5 / Bird Watching

Keep an eye out for a variety of bird species, including ospreys and egrets. Smith Island hosts the Chesapeake's largest Brown Pelican colony, with more 2,000 birds utilizing the Island's shoreline as their annual nesting location.

6 / Martin National Wildlife Refuge

A 4,500-acre wetland, covering the northern half of Smith Island. Much of the refuge can be seen by boat. There is a small sandy area where you can observe wildlife from the water.
