Giving Tuesday, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, is a 24-hour online giving event. It provides nonprofits the opportunity to inspire the community. Your donation to Smith Island United benefits initiatives for Smith Island. ​​

For nearly 140 years, worship, prayer, and praise band music are the highlights of this week long non-denominational celebration. Typically during the first week of August. Schedule of this inspirational event will be available. All are welcome.

The Waterman’s Float Hunt has become a very popular event - loved by visitors and residents of all ages. The glass orbs are about the size of an orange. From Memorial Day to Labor Day weekends, the floats are hidden each weekend on public areas throughout Smith Island.

This special evening is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our Island's heritage, enjoy delicious food, and support our cultural endeavors. Proceeds benefit the Smith Island Cultural Center and Museum.

The Smith Island Fishing Tournament, founded in 2022, celebrates the culture of this iconic Chesapeake Bay community. Proceeds benefit local non-profits and local improvement projects.

Enjoy an evening of celebration and recognition of the watermen and their trade by feasting on the bounty of the Chesapeake Bay. The Tangier Sound Watermen's Association  Annual Dinner is typically held the first Saturday in November.
